Three year old brown dun gelding. Waldo is a good mover with nice freedom in his shoulder and push from behind. He has a well-shaped neck of good length coming up nicely out of his shoulders. Waldo has been well-handled, he responds to light aids, and he is never inclined to be pushy.

Both of Waldo’s parents are Dutch imports and successful competitive driving horses in Combined Driving (like 3-day eventing in a carriage) at the highest level.

Waldo has tons of personality and charm, and is so easy to work with. He has a rare and desirable marking, the dark stripe over his withers, but he also has a white star on his forehead. Waldo has good conformation with a nice balance between front end and hind end, good straight legs with good joints and straight action, and large, round, “text-book” feet.

Lori seems to bring out the strengths in every horse, and works to nudge away any problems. Every horse in the barn was unique and she was working with each of them to create living, breathing, trusting works of art…

I realize this note makes Lori and Bluebird Lane Fjords and Bocina sound too good to be true, but over the last few months I have been consistently amazed, even though I already knew I’d connected with one of the great Fjord farms.

Mission

We breed for an athletic Fjord Horse, well suited to a variety of disciplines. As participants in the sport and art of dressage, athletic ability and movement matter a great deal to us.

At the same time, as breeders, breed type and character remains our first guiding principle. This means that the horses we breed are, first and foremost, Fjordhorses.

They retain the character, the conformation, and the hardy, sure-footed, easy-keeping nature of their Norwegian ancestors which date back thousands of years.
