The Fjordhorses of Bluebird Lane

We are pleased to introduce you to the members of our Fjord herd! Our herd of Fjord horses usually numbers between six and twelve individuals. Besides Mogly and our core group of mares, we generally have a few young horses we are bringing along, and some sales prospects in the works. Mogly

Mogly is an imported Norwegian Fjord approved breeding stallion. He has been ranked a Ster – 1st Klas stallion and also holds the designation of Prestatie stallion!

Mogly was born in 1998. He was bred in Germany by Josef Borsbach. After Mogly was approved as a breeding stallion and passed the 30-day performance test with the impressive score of 83%, he stood at stud in Belgium until 2007, when he was imported to Canada.

Mogly’s dam Inka is a States Premium Mare in Germany, a grey daughter of the stallion Illiano. His sire Mosby is by Havstad and out of the Toddy daughter Ieasy.

Rjelgrimm

Rjelgrimm is a Dutch-imported certified A-premie daughter of Myrstein and the ster and prestatie mare Carla (a daughter of the German stallion Oswald). The prestatie designation indicates the highest level of achievement in performance testing.

Rjelgrimm has huge powerful movements and built-in rhythm. A superb riding mare, she passes this quality to her offspring. A mare of substance with a beautiful head and great Fjord type, Rjelgrimm produces offspring who look like a Fjord should look and move with athleticism and fluidity.

A well-known Dutch studbook stallion, Rjelgrimm’s sire Myrstein has a high score for conformation and is a wonderful mover. He is an athletic stallion who is known for producing movement in his offspring. Myrstein is a ster stallion, a keur stallion, and a preferente stallion. He also holds the rank of Elite Stallion, which only a handful of Holland’s approved stallions have.

Bluebird Lane Kestrel

Kestrel is a home-bred mare, foaled in 2000, sired by Felix (imported from Norway) out of Roza (imported from Holland). Her dam sire is Fjelljon, born in Norway and standing in Holland where he earned the rank of Elite stallion. There are only two Fjelljon daughters in North America, and the other one (somewhat curiously) is also called Roza.

Our Roza was out of a Bjorgard daughter called Lisa. This is quite an impressive dam line, with Roza’s dam, grand-dam, and great-grand-dam all being ster mares. Bjorgard himself was sired by the great Astrix and out of the Elite mare Sunngard.

Kestrel was trained in dressage with Lori, and shown successfully. At her first show, the National Spring into Dressage at Palgrave, she won a Championship at Training Level, scoring as high as 71.36%.

Bluebird Lane Helix

Helix was sired by the well known and respected Norwegian-imported stallion Felix and out of the Dutch-imported first-premium mare Cindy.

Both Cindy and Felix have a long list of accomplishments as quality producers, including each having had two offspring winning Gold Medals from the Netherlands Fjord Studbook! Actually four of the six Gold Medals awarded at the Ontario Fjord Show went to horses sired or produced by Felix or Cindy. What an accomplishment!

Helix brings these two desirable lines together, and exhibits his father’s flowing movement and typey head, and his mother’s kind eye and temperament.
